    • With a prescription, you can get Diflucan, an anti-fungal medication which will get rid of a yeast infection with just one dose. For over the counter, less expensive treatments, take garlic tablets on a regular basis (prevents yeast infections) or take high doses of garlic tablets (1,000mg or higher) on the onset of symptoms. Continue taking garlic tablets for 14 days after symptoms subside. Put antifungal cream (the kind that you buy for athlete’s foot, not the vaginal kind) on the itchy areas, this gets rid of it the fastest, and the same infection that causes athlete’s foot causes jock itch, yeast infections, and a bunch of other infections. It takes between 24 and 72 hours for this method to work, but the itching stops almost immediately. High doses of vitamin C (1,000mg or higher) can also get rid of a yeast infection quickly.

  1. Getting rid of mild yeast infection very quickly? ?
I caught it really early but I have mild yeast infection. If I use garlic, yogurt, and nystatin throughout the day , could it go away today? Or is it one of those things that always need time? Please answer my specific question. I don’t need to know names of other medications.

    • Fluconazole is the best for immediate relief but if you cannot go to the doctor, try one of the over the counter creams, like Monistat. Then buy some probiotics from your local health food store and take them regularly to keep yeast infections from coming back. Make sure to buy a probiotic with several strands of acidophilus. It must also be kept cold. If you buy it from a store that doesn’t keep it cold, it will most likely not work. The acidophilus dies in warmth and humidity.

  2. How to get rid of a yeast infection quickly?
Okay, I’m 11, never had my period before, and I may have a yeast infection. I think I do, I have all the symptoms (cottage cheese-like discharge, red skin on the outer vagina, unusual lumps that may hurt, itchy crotch, burning while urinating), and I’m way too nervous to go to my mom about it. I have a male doctor that I would feel funny going to. I’ve heard plain yogurt works, and I’ll try that if nothing else works. I wanted an answer to something I had heard: is it true that putting honey on your vagina for at least 5 minutes can banish a yeast infection? If it can (or can’t), and you have any more suggestions, please tell me, it’s really hard going to school with this itchiness, and I know that Chronic yeast infections are nearly impossible to cure.

    • Don’t start putting honey or yogurt or any other food in your vagina. It’s so weird that people perpetuate these notions. I assure you that your mom has had to deal with yeast infections before, it’s a perfectly normal (albeit annoying) part of being a woman. You really don’t need to feel nervous or embarrassed about talking with her about it. And, at your age, get used to having awkward conversations with mom, since Aunt Flo is coming to visit you in the next couple years anyway. ;)

Your best bet on your first one is to have it diagnosed for sure first. Again, you’re reaching an age where you are going to have to start having a doctor look around down there anyway, so if you’re uncomfortable with a man, ask to switch to a woman. No one will be bothered, trust me.

  3. How to quickly get rid of a yeast infection?
I am 14 years old. About 2 weeks ago, I started taking antibiotics to help clear my acne. Last night, I noticed ‘down there’ was really itchy, and it was very uncomfortable. When I asked my mom about it this morning, she gave me a pill for it. Stupid me, forgot to eat when I took it, so I got REALLY sick.I almost threw up, and I’m surprised I didn’t pass out. I am feeling better, now, though. I don’t think the medicine is working. I have my best friend’s birthday party that she and I had planned together tomorrow, and we will be having a water balloon fight, hide-and-go-seek when it turns dark, and other stuff. I don’t want to be uncomfortable the whole time, so how do I get rid of it quick? And I heard plain yogurt helps, but I don’t have any yogurt of any kind.
Also, I’m not taking antibiotics while I have my yeast infection. But, I have to take them again when I get rid of it, so what is a good way to prevent getting another?
