Boric Acid Treatment For Yeast Infections

An additional normal remedy for yeast infection is boric acid suppositories. Boric acid can be defined as a chemical substance with gentle antiseptic and antifungal properties which is white and crystalline. It is exploited in manufacture of various prescription pharmaceutical products and is also available exclusively as a prescription.Medical experts nowadays advocate vaginal boric acid capsules as a treatment option for vaginal yeast infections particularly infections that can not be healed by anti fungal yeast infection prescriptions. However a serious caution goes to the pregnant, women on the use of vaginal boric acid treatment for their usual yeast infections instead they should practice other remedies.

The question of how best to exploit boric acid suppositories must be expected to arise particularly with those victims of yeast infections using it for the very first time. You can make your home made boric acid suppositories by filling approximately 600 mg 0f gelatin capsules with boric acid, then pop in one capsule in the vagina at bedtime for about two weeks.A standard yeast infection treatment is one capsule introduced in the vagina once a day.Nevertheless, for continuance treatment of a recurrent yeast infection, boric acid suppositories can be used twofold a week for six months to a year.

The effectiveness of boric acid suppositories is another important element to be considered especially when used to treat vaginal yeast infections that haven't been cured by anti fungal medications like Monistat or Diflucan. As a matter of fact boric acid suppositories are known to cure up to a high of almost a hundred percent of women who are suffering out there. After a couple of days, symptoms of yeast infections may retreat in some women, making it necessary to use continuation treatment over many months. Some study that looked at a single 150 milligram dose of the boric acid vaginal suppositories in over a hundred diabetic patients, with recurrent vaginal yeast infection, ascertained that boric acid vaginal suppositories resulted in a higher cure rate as compared to other cures.

There are safety issues though, with boric acid suppositories. This is lethal and should NEVER be ingested internally by mouth or placed on open abrasion. It should not also be used for a lengthened period of time, or in incorrect amounts greater than what is recommended by the manufacturer. When used in capsules as a vaginal suppository, boric acid is only known to occasionally cause skin irritation. All the same other known side effects of the suppositories may include vaginal burning and irritation, although this depends with individuals.

Boric acid suppositories are available at the pharmaceutical stores and one must read the labels well before use to avoid unnecessary accidents that would arise due to ignorance.A good example of boric acid suppository product called Yeast Arrest is manufactured by a supplement company based in Oregon called Vitanica.Yeast Arrest contains boric acid and the herbs Oregon grape root and calendula. But of course the usual advice I give to you is to seek doctors advice if this does not work for you or a close friend of yours who could be struggling with persistent yeast infections.

  1. YEAST INFECTION PLEASE HELP?
I have currently had a yeast infection which I can not get rid of. I went to my gyn in Dec and had a vaginal culture which came back as a yeast infection. I was prescribed diflucan which i took and felt great but withing two days felt horrible again. I then tried monistat 7 for about 3 days n felt fine. i stopped the treatment b/c my period started. throughout my period i felt fine and had no signs of the infection. once my period had finished the infection came back again i went back to the use of the monistat and nothing happened. i called my gyn to let her know and was given one more diflucan. i took it fri and felt major relief but the thick white discharge has not gone away. this has been my problem since i have been battling this infection the itching is not present but the thick white discharge is. what do i do? i have read about boric acid but have not come across n e one who has taken it. can someone give me advice. i have also tried to the peroxide douche which helped slightly before i saw my gyn.

    • Your best bet is to get a second opinion. You may very well need to be on a much longer course of anti fungal medication. One thing that you can do is to not douche and add yogurt to your diet on a daily basis. Good luck

  2. Boric Acid for cockroaches but used for BV?
Okay so I have heard about the Boric acid treatment for BV and Yeast infections. Supposedly its this miracle drug that takes away the smell and the symptoms. I have a smelly labia and I can never get rid of the smell. I wash myself as well too.

Anyways, i heard getting Boric Acid Powder and gelatin capsules is the way to go and insert them vaginally for a couple days to get rid of your problem.
The only thing is that Boric Acid is used to kill ants and cockroaches, so Im wondering is there a certain brand of Boric Acid that I need to buy? Or can I just buy a cockroach killer and put it in a capsule and stick it in? Im kind of confused.
I was looking up this kind of Boric Acid, “Pic Boric Acid Roach Killer III”
now would that work? because i cannot find Boric Acid anywhere in the stores and this seems to be the only one i can come along.. please help!

    • The regular dose is 600mg boric acid (in type 0 capsules) inserted vaginally at bedtime for 14 days. They need to be compounded so -you need a prescription and a compounding pharmacy.

  3. Boric acid and yeast infections?
I have had recurrent yeast infections and my doctor recommended me to take boric acid suppositories for two weeks and then twice a week for a few months. I was wondering what the side effects would be like discharge, pain, burning, etc.? Also, I was wondering if it was ok to have sex while on this treatment? Please feel free to tell me what your experience has been and what you do. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I’ve been on diflucan on and off for a year and it stopped working. Gynazole gave me an allergic reaction. And other prescription creams haven’t worked either (topical and vaginal). I just finished a week plan and i’m still itchy!

    • Your doctor is absolutely awesome to recommend the boric acid treatment. If you haven’t already, get started right away. This stuff really works! It has mild antiseptic and antifungal properties..

After a couple years of suffering and going through rx after rx, with short-term and/or no results, I finally found an older woman family practice doctor that told me about this terrific remedy. It completely took care of my issues. Over time I’ve spoken with several other doctor’s/surgeons about this and they also praised its effectiveness. I like that it is relatively natural and so cost-effective, too.

Used at night just prior to going to sleep you won’t have to worry about any discharge; though the next morning you may notice a thin secretion that can easily be handled with a light panty liner if necessary.

You’ll probably not experience any pain or burning from the boric acid, at least I never have (though I have read that some women do). The boric acid is simply changing your ph back to a normal state and generally does not cause any irritation.

Being intimate is no problem except I suggest waiting till your initial infection is subdued and you’re feeling normal and comfortable. Also, if you use the treatment at night insert suppository after intimacy so as not to experience any dryness the powder may create as the gelatin cap first begins to dissolve (after that point it can actually help the moisture factor).

I’d suggest keeping a supply of the caps on hand so as to use whenever you feel uncomfortable. All my medical people have told me they are completely safe, which sure wasn’t the case (due to the frequency) in the other pharmaceuticals I was being prescribed.

If you find your chronic condition lasts a long time you may want to do as I’ve done; simply purchase empty capsules and fill them yourself with pure boric acid from the drug store. I get my caps from here:

My experience w/boric acid has been excellent, nothing but positive. Keep in mind, however, that each woman is unique and may have a different reaction in any of the areas you are wondering about.

  4. why wont my yeast infection go away?
i have been going to the docter for two years trying to get this yeast infection cleared up. I have the white discharge and when it drys its kind of yellow. Everytime i go to the docter they run test and the results always come up as yeast.I have taken flucanozole, monistat, boric acid, oral pills, 7 day treatments, and it still will not go away. I drink cranberry juice, and i have been tested for all other std’s,bacteria, and diabetes. I have had this reoccuring yeast infection over the period of 2 years. i have went to 2 different docters and they all say the same thing. Out of the 2 years i have had it, it only has itched or irritated me like 5 times, the odor is not foul, it dosent really smell like anything. I was on the depo for 2 years so i thought that might be the reason but now ive been off for 5 months and i still have the white discharge. I mainly just have a lot of white discharge. somebody please HELP ME!!!

    • well obviously what the doctors prescribed you, doesn’t help, so you may want to start to try the natural remedies.

I would advise you to besides taking something specific against the yeast infection, take something to detoxify your body, like chlorella and/or ginseng.

I think you may have to change your diet to treat this effectively, so taking chlorella for instance to detoxify is already a good start (but don’t give up to soon)

In the link below there are several natural remedies mentioned to treat yeast.
The second link are about testimonials of women being succesfully cured of yeast infections, using a self-healing accupressure method, called EFT

  5. Yeast Infections from hell!!!?
For the past 10 months (since mid Jan 09) I have been dealing with an on going yeast infection. Prior to this I never had one in my life. I’m not sure what triggered it, but I’ve done plenty of homework and I was on a antibiotic last July 08 and this past Feb 09 for pneumonia. I’ve been seeing 2 different doctors probably around 13 times and I’m always told something I already know, “You have a yeast infection” or “It’s bacterial vaginosis”. I’ve wasted money on around 16 of the 7 day treatments a few of the 3 days, bottles of Acidophilus supplements, Diflucan, no relief. I’ve gone the holistic route, boric acid, iodine, peroxide everything. I’m at the end of my fuse, I don’t understand how the doctors cant guide me in some direction of relief. This was taking a toll in my personal life, my fiance is in the Navy and has been gone for a month and a half. Doctors were insistent that I wasn’t giving myself a “break” haha – the poor guy was/is so supportive, sex was never brought up, it was painful. Even with him gone its still here, raging as ever. They suggested I be tested for diabetes because that is one of the causes of infections – it came back as anemia and im on prescription strength folic acid. I just want to know if you have any suggestions for me, maybe a certain type of specialist I should see.

Also I’m not on birth control, i don’t have multiple partners, i don’t smoke, and im 22. I don’t crave sweets what so ever and Im a vegetarian borderline vegan as of December 08.

    • Hey I’m 18 years old, and for the past 2 years (on and off) i had the same problem. I would go to the doctor and they would give me diflucan over and over again. I was so fed up with seeing so many different gyno’s, i finally got recommended to see a urologist. Does it burn when you pee? If so i would recommend that you see one also. When i saw a urogynocologist she automatically assumed that i have interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) that is associated with burning and itchiness of the vagina constantly. I had a test done to find out that i have i.c. It is so painful, i have been with my boyfriend for 2 years and for the last year we could barely have sex without me being in burning pain. Now i am in physical therapy and taking medicine and am feeling alot better. I suggest looking up interstital cystitis to see if you relate with the symptoms. Hope that helped!
