Free Vaginal Yeast Infection Home Remedies

A person's diet is believed to play a prominent role in causing yeast infection. Excess consumption of sugar and yeast containing, i.e., fermented foods lead to Candida infection in people. On the other hand, excess intake of antibiotics can also result in yeast infection in people. A lot of people prefer to treat yeast infections naturally and avoid medication or over the counter drugs. There are several home remedy options to choose from and below will highlight some of the most popular.

In case of a yeast infection in the vagina, simply dip a tampon in yogurt (plain and unsweetened) and insert it in the vagina. Do this twice a day till the infection is gone. For a yeast infection on other places, apply yogurt on the infected area for 15 - 20 minutes, in a day. This can ease the yeast trouble soon.

Garlic works like a charm on yeast infection. In case of vaginal yeast infection. You can simply insert a clove of garlic into the vagina and repeat this every few hours. Do this for 2 days to get good riddance from yeast infection. For a yeast infection on any other place, you can gulp down a few pieces of garlic with water.

Unlike most other vinegar types, organic apple cider vinegar helps to decrease the degree of acidity in the body and restore it to the right level in balance with the alkalis. For this, make a solution of organic apple cider vinegar (2 tablespoons per a quart of clean water) to apply as a douche to the vagina, or (half a cup of this vinegar for each bath) for taking a bath.

Tea tree oil - Using this treatment works in the same way as the yogurt or curds in terms of application. First lubricate the tip of a tampon with some type of personal lubricant and then apply several drops of tea tree oil. Place the tampon into the affected area.

Eating garlic on a daily basis together with the external application of garlic (insert chopped garlic into a cheesecloth and put this into the vagina for about 120 minutes). The characteristics of garlic make it an effective probiotic, antiseptic agent, acting against bacteria and fungi, which brings Candida back down to limited numbers and assists beneficial bacteria in getting back into action.

Meanwhile, you should continue to eat meat, yams, nuts, beans and grains such as millet, amaranth, kamut, buckwheat and basmati rice. Grains will keep your bowels regular. Also, vegetables have digestive enzymes which can kill candida overgrowth. Vegetables cause phagocytosis which helps white blood cells purify the blood. This process eliminates unhealthy cells which contain yeast, parasites and toxins. You should consider juicing with raw vegetables. This simply entails blending raw vegetables and drinking them. This improves the absorption rate of the vitamins and minerals contained in raw vegetables. Raw vegetables such as cucumbers and radishes also have digestive enzymes which can kill excess yeast in the body. Always wash your raw vegetables as they can have parasites on them. A simple mixture of water and vinegar will be sufficient for cleaning them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Bathing in yogurt to treat yeast infection?
So I was reading online about some home remedies for a vaginal yeast infections. They said to eat a certain amount of yogurt for a full week, and to even apply plain, sugar free yogurt to the area. Which sounds a little weird, but it's less expensive than buying a kit. So I was thinking.. would adding a bunch of plain yogurt to a bath be effective also? Or would that kill any of the good germs in the yogurt that would help with my yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
it's possible, but it has to be active yoghurt with living bacteria in it like a probiotic drinking yoghurt, as the bacteria in the yoghurt can cancel out the yeast for a few days
you should ask your doctor for some over the counter remedies such as Monistat, or call your doctor and tell them you need a prescription for Diflucan. It usually cures a yeast infection in one dose.
but it could be that it isn't a yeast infection,
it could be bacterial vaginosis, or just the natural cleansing of the vagina.
but there's a number of things you can do to stop the smell, and help.
i heard that to put a yeast infection in order patting on a bit of yogurt might help and it i advised this to one of my patients who claimed it works! after a few days the smell should vanish, do the yogurt thing every few days, and when your on your period dip a tampon in yogurt before insertion. but it has to be a yogurt with ACTIVE bacteria in it, not the flavored dead kind.
but DONT douche, it can make it worse and can lead to all kinds of infections etc.
just rinse it with water every day, dont rub it hard,
i've been told bathing in apple cider vinager cures bacterial vaginosis in one go, but sometimes it can worsen matters if used incorrectly (being inserted into the vagina)
loose/cotton pants, don't sleep in underwear, it helps to 'air' it
avoid tight clothing, but a panty liner will absorb allot of odour and discharge
talcom powder is really good at taking away smell
take a bath to help cleanse the area, wiggle around
i've heard that rinsing it in salt water is good for it,
canesten cream and pessaries are really good for clearing yeast infections
try vagisil products, the wash, cream, wipes etc.
drink water lots and lots of water, stay away from beer, sugars and carbs,
drinking pinapple juice can apparently help,
and instead of using loo roll use female hygiene wipes, or make-up wipes.
this isn't a fullproof method, just a few things i picked up at medical practice, but if symptoms persist after a few weeks you should go see your doctor or a gynaecologist
      hope i helped

  3. QUESTION:
What Are The Symptoms Of Bacterial Vaginosis/Vaginitis?
Ok so in 2006 I had what I thought was vaginal warts and/or herpes because I had these itching burning pimple like bumps in my vagina that never went away.

Stupidly I waited to get them checked out and when I did I had a pelvis and vaginal exam preformed and I was told that not only was it NOT an STD, but I had bacterial vaginosis/vaginitis and a yeast infection going on at the same time.

The doctor explained that the bumps were caused by irritation from the yeast infection. Well unfortuantely I suffered from BV up until the middle of 2007 because it just kept coming back. I read that its an infection that just won't stop.

Well now its come back, but I have no insurance. Medi-Cal has denied me and all the free clinics will want a co-pay even if I have no income. Are there any at home remedies to ease this pain?

    • ANSWER:
There are many symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) that a woman should watch for. For instance, if you should detect a vaginal discharge, especially after sex, it is very possible that you have contracted Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). The discharge, if found, is often gray, white or some women have reported their discharge as being yellow in color. The discharge itself may be thin in texture. Although many things can cause an abnormal discharge, it is very important that you see your GYN and take the steps to be tested and treated promptly. A ‘normal’ discharge should vary in consistency and be completely odorless.
Other classic symptoms include a very unpleasant, foul fishy smell, which could become worse during or after intercourse, intense itching around the vulvae, swelling, and irritation. The irritation can be found in and around the vaginal area. Bacterial Vaginosis can also cause painful burning during urination. Some women have experienced stomach pains, which feel like severe menstrual cramps. Although the symptoms listed above are more common, half of women with the condition of BV have no symptoms at all, which could cause severe ramifications.
In fact, some health care providers often misdiagnose BV as a yeast infection. Some of the symptoms are similar with some other sexually transmitted diseases especially Trichomoniasis. It can also be misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection or even a vaginal yeast infection.
Should you have any of the symptoms listed above and they do not disappear with a matter of a few days, it is very important to see your GYN. If you do nothing about these symptoms, it is very possible that serious conditions will develop, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), reproductive tract infections, or reproductive tract inflammation. BV is a very troublesome and frustrating condition that women who are sexually active have to try to circumvent.
Should you become pregnant while you have BV, this could lead to several complications. You may be pregnant and show no symptoms at all, or you may have persistent symptoms. If you are pregnant and showing no symptoms, it is very likely that you will deliver the baby early, which could lead to infection. BV also increases your chance of miscarriage. It is also very important, should you need a c-section that you do not have BV, which could lead to infection. Either way, you should ask your OB to test you to make sure that you do not have BV.
If you have had an abortion or hysterectomy scheduled, you should be tested prior to the procedure to be certain that you are not suffering from BV. Women that have pelvic procedures such as a hysterectomies, or abortions are far more likely to develop a pelvic infection should they have BV.
There are many bacteria within a woman’s vagina that can cause an abnormal discharge. To make certain that you are not carrying BV, make sure to see your doctor so that you can be tested and receive the proper treatment.

Garlic powder diluted in water to cure yeast infection?
i dont have any cloves of garlic to treat this yeast infection...would garlic powder diluted in water used as a douche work?

    • ANSWER:
According to my cousin who is next to me and is a gynocologist he says no. He says in order to cure yeast infection with the garlic trick you must insert a garlic suppository. 2. QUESTION:
Is it true you can cure a yeast infection with garlic?
I was reading this question someone had asked about natural home remedies for getting rid of a yeast infection. One lady said to leave a clove of garlic in your vagina overnight. Does that really work?

    • ANSWER:
I would not use a whole glove of garlic, but you take the garlic sections and skin them and thread some string through the tops and insert them overnight and pull on the sting to remove what is left. Some people will insert yogurt but this needs to be plain live active yogurt from the health and natural department. Eating alot of this yogurt should be a regular part of diet. Eat lots of fruits and veg.
You need to know if your body had a yest infection and why- we have a natural amount of yeast in our bodies and sometimes people have an excessive amount of it. I would suggest taking acidophilus 5 billion - milk free with FOS. This will help put the natural flora back into you system and help control the situation. Also drink alot of fluids. If it continues and becomes bothersome then it is time to see the doctor but continue taking the acidophilus. Hope that heps

Causes Of Yeast Infections In Females

Yeast infection causes are numerous. If you have been diagnosed with an overgrowth of Candida albicans, be it in your throat, mouth, vagina, or the gut, identifying the cause would form an essential component of the treatment program that you should follow.

Garlic's anti-fungal properties work fast to quickly get rid of your symptoms. One very effective way to use garlic for a current infection is to clean a garlic clothe, wrap in gauze or cheescloth, lubricate with olive oil, wrap unflavored dental floss around the whole thing for easy removal, and insert vaginally.

Eat a lot of fresh garlic, not the powdered spice kind. Garlic acts as an anti fungal in the body, killing yeast. Not only will you get rid of your infection, you might also be protected from vampires, although no medical evidence exists to support that theory.

Anti fungal properties of garlic are well known. Gently rubbing a clove of garlic on the affected area can be effective. You can also wrap a paste of garlic in cheesecloth and rub it on the affected area. Eating cloves of garlic with water or including garlic in your diet will also be effective.

You can use apple-cider vinegar for a lot of health applications, and it works well in to give you relief naturally. You can use it internally or externally, but because it's so strong, you might not want to apply it directly to your skin. Although it will kill the yeast, it will burn like crazy. To use apple-cider vinegar externally, add a cup of it to your hot bath. You will feel soothed, and it will give you temporary relief. Make sure you don't use plain white vinegar though - the yeast will actually grow instead of dying.

Although taking this herb does give you a bad breathe, it does have a potent antifungal activity that can kill of candida albicans. Taken by mouth, it can treat fungal infections on the skin and help with vaginal candida infections. There is one report that inserting a wrapped clove of garlic in the vagina could cure the infection.

Yet another effective natural treatment involves using apple-cider vinegar. Mixing it with some hot water and then taking a bath is known to help get relief from the symptoms of yeast infection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
what causes yeast infections in children?
8 year old female; no immuno-compromising issues; healthy, active, though she does have a tendency toward sensory processing issues, and because of it can have serious, irrational melt-downs. Lately, the yeast infections have flared up, and so has the sensory processing issues/behavior. I'm starting to wonder if there could be a connection between the presence of yeast and possibly blood sugar levels that affect her behavior? She's been tested for diabetes - all clear.

    • ANSWER:
Kids can get these infections from poor hygiene.
Not wiping properly or running around in a wet bathing suit too long.
Hi blood sugars do help yeast grow- just like you need sugar in any yeast product to make it grow.

  2. QUESTION:
how does sex hurt during a yeast infection?
Ive headr that sex hurst during a yeast infection for the female but i cant seem to find how, as in where and in what way? i am getting over a yeast infetion and would very much like to have sex, but i would like to know what hurts? Is it just an irritated vagina like on the outside redness and irritation so when it's touched that causes it to hurt? or is it something to do with the inside of the vagina like a sharp pain or pressure of some sort?

    • ANSWER:
I don't think it really hurts, but it will be uncomfortable. When you have a yeast infection, there is usually some discomfort while urinating, and itchiness, so when you have sex, you're irritating it even more, which causes the discomfort. Think of a burn or a bite on your arm, if you kept rubbing and picking at it, it would eventually start to become uncomfortable, and might hurt. Same goes for a yeast infection.

  3. QUESTION:
Natural Remedies for Male Yeast Infection?
My b/f and I have been playing this fun game of "pass the yeast infection" I've been doing the over the counter treatment and he's been doing a similar regiem of putting Monistat (which we lovingly call Manistat) on the head of his penis etc. I recently read about a natural remedy for curing a female yeast infection which was inserting Garlic into the Vagina, worked magically as disgusting as it sounds and is cheaper than spending the 17 bucks on Monistat. He is uncircumsized (love it) and the cleanest man I've ever met. Soaking his member in vinigar and putting Monistat on it seems to clear up the infection, but after a month we seem to be back at square one with me running to the pharmacy and both of us sitting with an uncomfortable burn! I've heard there is an oral medication to cure this issue, but due to some sort of heart condition B/F can't take it... any natural remedies I haven't tried yet?? I mean the Garlic works amazing for me, but I can't imagine where he'd shove it LoL! We try to be as clean as possible as we have sex on average about 4 times EVERY night so pre-bed showers always come into play. We are oober clean, I don't douch I only use a mild "lady bits" soap on the outer parts of the vagina. I do use birth control which I've heard can cause Yeast issues. Any sugestions are welcome!!

    • ANSWER:
I think it's possible that both of you are being a tad hyper-vigilant with hygiene (important though it is!). And it sounds like you're just constantly passing a yeast infection from one person to the other.

For both of you, perhaps the soap might be partly the cause. Some soaps are just too strong to be used on such sensitive tissues and can cause irritation, dryness, redness, soreness, and yes even yeast infections. Use an unscented mild soap or no soap at all even, that might help.

For him, just pulling back his foreskin when he showers is enough. When he's done, he should dry the area under his foreskin gently before returning his foreskin back over the glans (penis head). It could also help if he pulls back his foreskin when he urinates, to prevent urine from remaining under his foreskin (which doesn't help with the yeast infection).

For both of you, eating yogurt and drinking cranberry juice can help. Exercise and a balanced diet are also important in helping your bodies keep yeast infections in check. Also, you may be having sex too much too soon. 4x a day is fine, but 4x a night every night is almost just asking for trouble. And he should use a condom every time until the yeast infection clears in both of you.

  4. QUESTION:
Does a yeast infection cause hard bumps?
Two weeks ago I went to the doctor because I suspected that I had either genital herpes or a yeast infection. Turns out it was a yeast infection (the herpes test came back negative). She prescribed diflucan and I've had to take 3 pills spread out every 3 days. Almost a week ago I noticed hard red bumps in my genital area. They range from my anus to the top of my labia. Some are in groups but mainly they are individual and they ITCH! I have a line of them along the outer fold of my labia and those are really big, hard and sore. Today one of them has a white head on it and oozes. Others are bleeding because they've popped and stick to my underwear. They still itch really bad but now because they've opened up they're sore, too. The ones along my thighs and between my anus and vagina haven't popped or anything but continue to itch like crazy. Could this be due to the yeast infection? My gynecologist told me to stop using the Summer's Eve soap because the lack of bacteria has promoted an unhealthy level of yeast and that's what's caused the infection. Also, I've been having a lot of sex lately with my boyfriend and I'm a female ejaculator. Female ejaculate supposed to have a lot of sugar in it, and after sex I haven't been washing, just drying off and then showering in the morning. Could it be that the yeast has been feeding off that and I've caused this rash by not showering after sex? I also shave and where the worst bumps are located are places I shave. I'm thinking that maybe I cut myself shaving and then the combination of female fluids, yeast and shaving nicks created the ideal environment for this rash. What are some thoughts on this? Also, what can I do to make them go away? I've stopped the sex and I try to keep the area clean and dry but the open blisters are very painful and itchy still.

    • ANSWER:
You need to go back to the doctor. I have never heard of a yeast infection causing itchy bumps. Could possibly be a allergic reaction to the diflucan? I am highly allergic to the ingredients in yeast infection meds and my whole area gets hugely swollen and red. I don't think you should wait, but call your doctor and talk to a nurse. They will more than likely schedule you an appointment to come have the doctor take a look. Best of luck!

  5. QUESTION:
    Why do females wear bras/undies?
If bras causes breast cancer, why still wear them? Back then it was invented for people who had pain in their breast so it needed supported. Then it became common to wear to avoid the two dots on the shirt that ruined the style of cloths even if a women is pregnat where milk spots appear.
The undies causes yeast infection. Why wear them even the mesh like cheese cloth thongs type? The skirts? HA! The point of skirts is firstly, they are cheap, secondly, if worn short, it will sure likely attract men by "triggers" to look and if there is undies or something covering, ur in luck... I dont want to hear "Then why men wear boxers or undies" I will tell u why "They have something hanging and when rubbed against the paints, its sores the tender skin... women dont have that. I know some men dont wear undies etc because thier thingy isnt so senitive.

    • ANSWER:
Bras for support. Undies, only wear them when out and about, around the house, no. More comfortable that way.

It is important for men to be on the look out for the following penile yeast infection symptoms:

1. Any kind of soreness, itching or irritation in the head of the penis.

2. Redness or blisters on the head of the penis.

3. Having a discharge which is thick and white in appearance.

4. Little red spots may appear on the penis shaft or the surrounding genital area if the treatment of the yeast infection is not done.

The man should visit the doctor to get a proper diagnosis done in case he comes across any of these symptoms. The reasons why it is important to have a proper diagnosis are detailed below:

1. A man may pass his yeast infection to his partner in case he does not get it treated. Similarly, she too can pass it back to him. The yeast infection can be eradicated only if both sexual partners get them treated.

2. The man may be suffering from a medical condition called genital herpes, but he may be under the impression that he is suffering from a yeast infection. Genital herpes is the name of a sexually transmitted disease which has symptoms of little itchy bumps. This is a chronic disease which can not be treated with the same medicines which are used to treat a yeast infection.

It is for these same reasons that a person suffering from these same reasons avoids self diagnosis and gets himself investigated by a health care provider.

The penile yeast infection symptoms in men can be treated. The cream which is prescribed to women affected by vaginal yeast infections can be used for the treatment. These creams can be purchased from the local pharmacy even without a doctors prescription. In case you have never had a penile yeast infection before, it is best to consult a doctor. Get a check up done by a doctor and take his treatment advice which will lead you to attaining effective relief.

The market has many medications which can treat this yeast infection. Hence even if you are now well aware of the yeast infection symptoms in men, it is better not to do any self medication.

  2. QUESTION:
I believe I have all of the HIV symptoms! What do you think? Would you PLEASE help me?
I am an 18 year old scared male, who has had sex with very few women. I am a heavy Catholic, but I am not perfect. I've had sex with maybe 3 women and I contracted nothing from them. Then one day at a party this random guy who showed up spiked my drink and nobody knew who he was. Everyone said he looked over 30. All I remember is that he told me that straight men can have anal stimulation that can create a bigger orgasm than from masturbating. I was reluctant and falling all over the place and couldn't really opt out of it. I am SO ashamed. and He fingered me and then for less than 5 seconds he put his penis inside of me. I found the strength to jump off of him and run away at this point.

I am a hypochondriac. I always believe that I have some dying disease. However, this time may be different. I mean, yes, the next day I was sure I had hiv, but then I started getting serious symptoms. I was tested 5 weeks afterwards for hiv and results came back negative and I was happy, but I had Realized that I am not off the hook. I had a genital wart, so I though, but looked closely and there was a hair in it. Then I shaved it and it went down, so I am ASSUMING that it was an ingrown hair...or a hair inside of a genital wart. One or the other. It was on the side, but NOT on my scrotom inbetween where the scrotum and inner thigh is, where sweat builds up. It was itchy and produced a lot of oil. Then, I shaved my pubic hair as I found about 3 red spots. There were not raised and had no pus in them. Just spots. It almost looked like bug bites if they were deflated and completely flat and if you felt it, no bump. Then the next morning I woke up and had dozens of bumps filled with a little bit of pus, I assume it was razor burn. However, some of them appeared in places I don't believe to have shaved, like all the way up to my "happy trail" hair under my belly button and sides. I have had minor stomach problems, but thank God the main symptom, diarrhea, I have not had (knock on wood) however I always have unusual amounts of flatulence and I always have to make a BM. I have like 2 BMs a day, rather than 1 every day or every other day. I have not had full on liquid BMs however, sometimes it has been a littler wetter in texture than usual. It always has like a white film in it, as if bacteria is in it. I know this is absolutely disgusting and I have ashamed of all this. I really do apologize, but I am going crazy over this. Then ANOTHER symptom. I believe I have a thrush tongue. The back of my tongue is full of a white residue with red bumps in it and it appears to go all the way down my tongue to my throat which does cause me a soar throat. I got most of the whitestuff off, but it still looks irritated. I took a test, to see if I had a yeast infections by spitting into a glass full of water, I heard that if it looks like a spider web and collects particles at the bottom you have a yeast infection, and it did. ANOTHER THING UNEXPLAINABLE.....I AM ALWAYS ITCHY. Everywhere on my body is always itchy. My arms. My legs. My face. My stomach. EVERYWHERE. I guess I have flakey skin, and here and there, there are red dots on my body, not raised, just like what was on my pubic area. I am tired all the time, weak, no stamina to do anything, fatigued, but I have a poor sleep schedule and I don't eat as much as I use to (as food is expensive) and what I do eat isn't very good for me. I am hoping that has something to do with it. I have always been healthy. My laptop right now in my lap, is twice as irritating on my skin as it wouldve been two weeks ago. Something is going on with me. I want to say that I am over reacting or exaggerating, but I am being very reasonable and rational. I have a lot of symptoms. I had unprotected anal sex, but it lasted not even 5 seconds, I mean could it really be transferred that quickly into my stream without him even getting off in me? And thrush tongue, I thought it could be a cause from strep throat or something, but my CONSTANT soar throat isn't as bad as a strep throat, which I've had, its more of a tickle that's always irritating...but then I learned thrush causes strep not strep causes thrush. WHY elseee would I have thrush??!

I know the average answer will probably be, go get tested, but I did a week ago. I have to wait until seroconversion or whatever takes place if I have it. So I have to wait for that long period. My HIV test came negative after 5 weeks, but the more and more people relieve me that I don't have HIV, I get another symptom! I WILL get tested, every two weeks. But I want to go into it knowing if I have it or not. Tell me. Do you think I have been infected with HIV? If I am, I want to know ahead of time if it is probable, so I can go into it thinking I have it, because If I am confident that I am healthy and then find out I have it, I will go into a rage and probably kill myself. I want your honest opinion. PLEASE. Do you think that
I also have a dry cough and when my AC isn't on I burn up like right now and break sweat. I wouldn't call it a fever, but idk because my AC is ALWAYS on. I have given such a detailed list of symptoms, I hope people actually read and give me some realistic feedback.

**************IMPORTANT..NEW SYMPTOM.... I looked in the mirror after noticing after the shower that I had the skin under my felt very gummy in texture. In the mirror, the skin under my testicles, the very pink area, in the middle, had a very large brown area in it. I also noticed the anus had brown spots on the rim of it and on the inside it looked very raw and redish/pinkish even more than usual in color. I have symptoms of HIV, soar throat, thrush, bumps on the back of my tongue, dry cough, dry, itchy skin, tired all the time. I have little red spots around my body. WHAT IS THIS?

    • ANSWER:
This will seem radical so I have waited until other answers stopped.

#1 sex with men is much safer than sex with women..........womens insides harbor every nasty disease there is including HIV and cancer, and the more men they have been with, the more diseases they harbor. Although men can transmit diseases too, the design of their equipment makes them cleaner by nature.

#2 HIV is much, much MUCH harder to get than "experts" want us to think. Statistics are derived from anecdotal reports: if you were diagnosed with HIV would you report every sexual contact and practice of your life, or would you say "But I only did it once"........that's where the phony statistics come from. In truth, unless you are engaging in insane behavior (receiving from prostitutes, male or female........sex with drug addicts......bizarre acts that create easy points of entry (like cutting, inserting sharp objects in your butt, etc) HIV should not be a concern. In fact, sex with a man who knows he is HIV+ and is on meds is about as safe as you can get since the meds reduce the level of viruses to a point where it's virtually impossible to transmit.

#3 but you must set your own level of "acceptable risk"......I can only tell you my experience: I'm 22 now and have been bottoming since I was 13 or 14. First time was unprotected and I loved it.....later some guys used condoms and I didn't like it so I take it bare as much as I can. If I only take loads from 3 different guys a week, that would be something like 1400 different guys loads in me so far........I have never had a problem. I accept the risk - it is worth it, and I get tested mostly out of curiosity.

Don't let your admitted hypochondria keep you from enjoying all pleasures life has for us - - - better to regret what you did than what you didn't do.

    • ANSWER:
You did not have anal sex, you were raped. The fact that you're worried more about having HIV than the negative psychological and emotional effects of rape is interesting. In fact you having this hysteria could be a symptom of sexual abuse and our bodies do strange things when our minds are stressed. Stress causes, itching, acne (probably other bumps), sore dry throat, heart palpitations, etc...
You need to relax and take this day by day or else you will be a living train wreck the rape has made you into. If you have HIV the truth will come out eventually, but now you need to seek help about what happened. One thing at a time and one day at a time. It's not likely he gave you HIV because he could get into big trouble for rape AND giving you HIV without notice or warning by law. Those are felonies. If he allowed himself to be identified by you later, then I'd take that as a sign he is clean.
It's possible he gave you a yeast infection, but as you say, your diet may be the cause of that. Whether or not food is expensive you need to eat properly and make sure you're getting all of the vitamins and nutrients the RDA recommends. Do NOT take eating well lightly and do some research on this. If you spent half as much time reading up on how to eat properly as you did researching HIV symptoms you'd be doing great.
I'd tell you another symptom I know of, but is your stressed mind going to invent it after I say what it is? Night sweats, but I think that's an AIDS symptom instead.
It's possible he gave you other STD(s) instead of HiV and it is possible he DOES have the virus but doesn't know of it, but like I said, the only thing you can do is wait. Take as good of care of yourself as you can in the meantime and like I said relax.

Edit: Don't forget about the three girls from your past who could've given you something that is just now showing up too. Keep an open mind to discover the truth.

  4. QUESTION:
Are night sweats a part of HIV or aids? Now I have ALL the symptoms.?
I had a recent attempt rape by a gay man, with me being the receptive in anal sex. He penetrated me, but not even 20 seconds into it I got out and ran away. There was no condom. This was my only "Sexual" experience. I put sexual in quotations, as it repulses me, however I am at risk for hiv. I keep getting the average response that I'm crazy or that I'm full of anxiety and not hiv, infact one doctor prescribed me xanax. However, I get in denial after each symptom, so I don't really see how I'm worrying myself HIV if I get in denial. I'll explain. At first I had a sore throat, headache and cough. Then one genital bump appeared, not on the penis or scrotum, but on the left side between the hip and scrotum and it was sweaty and itchy. Later I found a hair in it, shaved it off and it went down. I assume it was an ingrown hair. Until, later after my 5 week negative hiv test, thrush appeared. Now, I had been researching HIV before the symptoms and then thrush magicallllllllllllllly appeared. k. Then 7 weeks after possible exposure, I got a rash. fml. I was convinced I had it, rather than half convinced. Then I panicked. It was everywhere. It was light pink/red and barely noticeable, but a doctor diagnosed me with a rash after seeing it too. It's been two weeks and I still have it. It's mainly on my chest and arms and legs. So basically everywhere. It is not raised and just little dots. Then above my nipple there are little, little darker, dots in a pattern. I am a book-case of hiv, with all my symptoms. I got everything on time. I got treated for thrush, and it only got worse which is the sign of a more serious condition :( Then, tonight I woke up at 6 AM because I was having a serious night sweat, which is what i've been in denial about. Every night I come back a little sweaty when I awaken, and my sheets smell. I assumed from my male yeast infection as it smelled like yeast. Then so I'd stop sweating, I put the thermostat on cool and fan, and ironically broke out into the worst night sweat. My apartment is freeeezing, and I'm dripping sweat, unable to sleep in my bed. Something's wrong. I had been in denial over my night sweats, that I didn't have them. I went to bed, and subcautiously made my room cold, not even thinking about the purpose of doing it. So I didn't expect nor anticipate this.

I know I have a yeast infection (which came along with rectal itching) I have enlarged lymphnotes in my armpits, pubic area, and throat. I have had diarrhea after the yeast infection medication, but everything other than the night sweat was pre-exposure to the thrush medication. I heard night sweats were AIDS symptoms and later hiv symptoms transferring into AIDs. Am I wrong? Research I have found says it's an hiv symptom but doesn't say what stage. I got tested 6 weeks after possible exposure and it said negative. It has now been 9 weeks. My whole apartment smells, I have all the symptoms, but HIV cannot be diagnosed by the symptoms, I know. An unknowledged person will say my 6 week neg test doesn't matter that it takes 6 months- a year to know. A fully knowledgable hiv doctor will say that a 6 week test is most likely conclusive. Some say it's over 80% accurate, others and a lot of specialists say it's over 99% accurate after 6 weeks. My doctor said it could be hepatitis but no agrees that it is a probable diagnosis of hiv. Except me. I might be 18, but I am rational. I would be in denial if anything unless I was "Sure" I had it.

Somebody help me, Please give me insight on whether or not if it's likely I have HIV. I don't care if the symptoms cannot diagnose hiv, I am writing for YOUR opinion. It won't stress me out, I'd rather go into testing thinking I have it, rather than be unsure or confident of a neg result if it won't be. I want to be ready for my result for my upcoming test.

    • ANSWER:
If all these symptoms you have was related to HIV you would have tested positive a week after all the symptoms began. You 7 weeks test which was negative is a good indication of your HIV status and is unlikely to change. If your want to stress yourself out and keep testing at 3 months is will be fully conclusive. I think anxiety is the root of your problems sorry to say. I had oral thrush after being on Antibiotic therapy and put myself through unwanted stress symptom chasing. Find something to occupy your time and believe in your test result.

  5. QUESTION:
Need insight on diagnosing possible std, 8 years no diagnosis...?
I would appreciate the input of someone who has gone through this, a nurse, doctor, midwife, doula, etc...Please keep any nasty or hurtful comments to yourself. This is hard for me to post for the world to see, but after 8 years and tons of research online Im not finding the answers I need so Im reaching out here.

Let me explain what's going on. About 8 years ago, at age 19 I was in a very short relationship with a guy that I lost my virginity to. We accidentally had unprotected sex when the condom slipped off. A short time later (like, a week) I met the man that would be my future husband. I broke it off with the other guy to persue this new relationship. We were intimate within a couple weeks of dating, and maybe a week after that, I had a very severe outbreak of what I thought might be genital herpes. There was intense swelling of the genital area, discharge, and it felt like paper cuts were coving the whole genital area. No blisters. I never went to see a doctor because I was young, embarrassed, and didnt want my parents to find out.

Eight years later I still have symptoms every now and then, but not as severe. Ive never had blisters..ever. But during an outbreak I will get a few areas that will sting and feels similar to a paper cut. I might see the tiniest spot of blood when I wipe, but I can never really see anything on the skin. It happens rarely now, but I notice I tend to get outbreaks when Im stressed.

I have a 2 year old son, and a few years before, and also during my pregnancy I was tested for all sorts of stds including herpes, ghonorrea, syphillis, chlamidia (sorry if I spelled all those wrong!) hiv, etc. i think I was tested for everything common. Everything came back negative. I have had several cultures done over the years, but it has always been hard for my doctors to do it because they can never see anything down there either. I can feel it, but its hard to see anything. All the cultures came back negative for anything. I even had a blood test done about 2 months ago for herpes. It came back negative.

I developed another outbreak over the weekend, and went to see my doctor asap to see if we could get another culture. Once again, I felt the stinging and saw small amounts of blood indicating that most likely there was some sort of sore, but she could not find anything when she looked today and just took a culture of an area to seemed to look a little red. We drew more blood and is going to test again for herpes, hepatitis, and something else I believe, but I forget what.

Im just tired of this. I want a diagnosis. Its been 8 years and i am pregnant again and I want to know if I can risk trying for a VBAC with this baby. The symptoms of herpes seem the closest, but then again it isnt a total match either.

Is there anything else similar to herpes..or even a rarer std that could be causing this? My doctor is at a loss and is almost wondering if it could actually be some sort of allergic reaction. Can any common infections such as bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection cause these symptoms?

I know this is a lot of personal information, but I need some input badly. Im just at a loss here. Help?
Well, my husband recently decided to leave me to pursue a easier life by himself without a toddler and newborn..so Im on my own and no sex for me for 4 months. Dont know if it could still be an allergic reaction to sex.
The symptoms in the article do decribe it pretty well! However i did not have the symptoms only after sex. It might have been once every few months during the 7 years we were married. Also, we have not been together for 4 months and Ive had at least 3 outbreaks...I assumed it was from the stress of it all.

During the earlier years, I would get a lot of tissue swelling. Not so much the past 3 years or so, however. That is a symptom I never saw described as herpes. Also, I always see articles that describe blisters, and i never had that. So that article you posted for me describes it better than anything Ive found! Thank you. Ill research that more, but Id still like more input.

    • ANSWER:
YES. It sounds like you may have an allergy to semen. It can actually be pretty severe, even worse than what you describe. But you do have the basic symptoms.

      http://www.essortment.com/articles/semen_allergy_100017.htm

As it becomes more common, there is more out there about it. Sometimes it only flares if the partner eats certain foods, sometimes it is a reaction to one man and not to another. Sometimes it flares up with hormonal changes.

PS if it flares other times than just after intercourse, I would still suspect allergy. Switch to cotton underwear and see if that helps. Also consider the possibility of temporarily trying some unscented wash for your delicates like some of the detergents for baby clothes. Seriously though, if you switch to cotton drawers and it clears up you probably have some allergy to synthetic fibers or to latex products if you wear spandex drawers.

At Home Yeast Infection Test Kit

Background

There is actually a relatively high rate of incorrect diagnosis of this medical condition. Many sufferers who assume that they have a yeast infection tend to treat themselves using conventional over-the-counter anti-fungal medications when, in fact, they may have another condition that needs a completely different treatment.

Bacterial vaginosis is often confused with yeast infection as the symptoms can be very similar. In a similar way, various skin conditions which can cause rashes and lesions can also be confused with skin yeast infection.

Obviously incorrect diagnosis and hence incorrect treatment can lead to significant aggravation of the actual underlying medical condition. In order to make sure that we diagnose correctly we need knowledge of what yeast infection (Candidiasis) is and what the causes and symptoms are. It would also assist in the diagnosis if we could find a simple home test for Candidiasis.

Causes of Yeast Infection

Yeast infections are caused by microscopic bacteria called Candida which lives on the surface of our bodies, in the genital areas, under skin folds and in our intestine. Candida is essential to maintain a healthy balance and keep unhealthy bacteria under control. Candida itself is keep under control by friendly bacteria which, under normal circumstances, prevent the Candida from multiplying out of control.

If the normal balance in our body is disrupted the Candida can multiply unchecked and they can then change from a yeast form into a fungal form which can penetrate the walls of our intestines. When this happens the yeast and bacteria can get into our blood stream and this can trigger infections in almost any part of the body. The condition can then become systemic and in extreme cases can even cause death.

Factors That Cause Candida Overgrowth

Candida overgrowth can be caused by a number of factors such as:

-       Loss of friendly bacteria through the use of antibiotics.

-       An unhealthy diet that raises blood sugar levels yeast love to feed on sugar.

-       Diabetes causing an increase in blood sugar levels which Candida will feed on.

-       A weakened immune system caused by recent illness and/or stress.

-       Hormonal changes during the monthly cycle or as a result of pregnancy.

-       Sexual contact with an infected partner can cause the infection to be transferred.

Typical Symptoms of Yeast Infection

Typical symptoms include:

-       Itchy sore rashes on the genitals and possibly under skin folds.

-       Smelly curd-like discharges from the vagina or penis.

-       Infection of the mouth and throat known as oral thrush.

-       Nail infections thickened, discoloured or damaged nails.

-       A burning type of pain during urination or intercourse.

-       Possible fatigue and blurred vision.

A Simple Home Test

There is a simple home test which can be used to help you confirm whether you do, in fact, have a yeast infection.

As soon as you wake up in the morning and before you put anything in your mouth, spit into a clear glass of cold water. Check the water every ten minutes or so. If you see strings travelling down into the glass you have Candida yeast infection. If the saliva sinks to the bottom of the glass this is an indication that the infection is severe.

Treatment

Once diagnosed it is important to treat the condition as soon as possible to prevent possible complications that can be triggered if the condition becomes systemic. I can recommend a holistic approach based on a combination of cleansing techniques and lifestyle and dietary changes as the best way to get permanent relief rather than the temporary relief that you may get from typical over-the-counter treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
is there any kit at the pharmacy to bring home to test if there is yeast infection, std, or so?

    • ANSWER:
The equipment to fully test you for std's is not really cheap or for sale in drug stores. Best to see a doctor for that.

  2. QUESTION:
Question about yeast infection--and straight to the point.?
I have discharge that has a funky smell to it. I had bacterial vaginosis about 6 months ago that the doctor gave me antibiotics for.

A day or so ago, I noticed more discharge than normal and a foul smell. (gross, I know) So I am thinking of going to the pharmacy and getting an at home yeast infection testing kit. If its bacterial vaginosis, will it show up positive or negative on the test if they are both different things? I am going to call my doc either way, but I can't until monday b/c I can't get off work tomorrow. If the yeast infection test shows up positive, should I just assume its a yeast infection and get a yeast infection kit?

No STD's, been only with my husband for 5 years so I'm not at all concerned about that.

    Thank you!

  3. QUESTION:
many yeast infection questions, vaginal discharge questions, help really needed im only 17 recurring infection?
the following is TMI (too much info aka kind of nasty) so if you dont really wanna help and you have a weak stomach/will be grossed out just stop reading now!

Im a 17 year old girl and yes im sexually active with a long term bf.
Okay so for a while I have had white, thick discharge that leaves stains in my underwear(feeling wet alot) and white clumps.. im not sure if its exactly "cottage cheese like" but it has little clumps almost like wet toilet paper and its very WHITE it is not "clear" sometimes it dries yellow(and crusty..ew) but its mostly white white white. it does not itch at all. it is sometimes really TIGHT during intercourse, almost like its really dry and irritated down there, and a little over a month ago i even bled a little bit affter intercourse but just a tiny spot. sex can be painful at times but never overly painful. it looks red and irritated sometimes but other times its perfectly normal. ive had this probably 3-4 months. ive always had heavy discharge so i thought it was normal and i ignored it but its gotten worse the past 2 months. i thought it was part of my cycle because it always happens about a week after my period is gone and then lasts up until right before my period . IS IT POSSIBLE FOR YEAST INFECTIONS TO DO THIS? <-- that is my main question. be present, period, then gradually gain its presence back, period, reapeat the cycle, etc?! anyways it doesnt smell like fish at all, but it doesnt smell good either. it is really strong smelling. i could not call it "foul" but i wouldnt calll it pleasant either and my underwear smells bad and its really embarassing. and sometimes the smell is so strong i can smell myself through my leggings. (highly embarassing) since its getting worse, i dont want to ignore it anymore. my boyfriend cant even go down on me anymore, and heck, i wouldnt let him even if he wanted to...... too embarassing. he said i taste "bitter" which is awful cause it used to be sweet. Does this sound like a yeast infection? i never thought it was cause it hasnt been "painful, itchy" at all. Also, sometimes it feels like a mild UTI occasionally, not all the time, but i know its not a uti. i think its part of the infection maybe?

does this sound normal or like an infection? anyone else ever had this? when i stick my finger up there to check around the situation, it comes out with the white lotiony discharge but also with small clumps and the "wet paper towel bits" on it and its a extremely white piece of paper color with a lot of discharge. on my vagina lips theres always like little bits of white.. i dont know if this is normal. its probably not :( so embarassing.

anyways heres my situation now: my last dr oppointment i told them about this(i see a pediatric doctor) and they said they couldnt do anything without a sample and i was on my period so i couldnt give them one.... now if i called to make an appointment today and i dont know if ill get there in time while its still active. i also should add you know that stringy clear discharge you get during ovulation? i used to have that and i know its healthy and i dont even have that anymore just the constant white stuff... very worrying. anyways should i try and make an appointment or should i go to CVS and buy one of those home yeast infection testing kits? if i test positive, should i buy monistat or wait and see a dr? im worried cause ive waited so long thinking it was normal since i had no severe discomfort....

also what causes these infections? is there a special diet i should be on? no sugar or something? im very worried about this leading to fungal infections in my organs! i heard thats rare but is it really dangerous to leave a yeast infection untreated? please help me im thinking of all worst case scenarios.
and anyone else ever have a yeast infection that came every period until you realized it was something wrong

    • ANSWER:
I didn't read it all, I stopped at "could it be a yeast infection?" If you have any burning, thick discharge, itching, odd odor, irritation, etc, you need to see your doctor or specialist.

YES. Everything you have means you have an infection, it may or may not be yeast, but I'm thinking it is. And because you kept having sex/let your boyfriend go down on you, he needs to be treated too. They get yeast infections from infected partners. It can grow in your mouth, and on genitalia.

It'll only get worse if you don't get it treated. It doesn't have any effects on your organs, but you will continue to infect your boyfriend. You need to lay off the bread and sugar, drink a lot of water and go to the doctors, get a diflucan to fix it. First of all, -do not- have any playtime until everything is totally cleared up. This includes fingering, oral, and intercourse, it'll only make it worse.

As soon as you start getting any uncommon symptoms, see your doctor or it will continue getting worse. Some other tips are to make sure you wear really loose, cotton underwear and if you get sweaty, switch them out as sweat can make them worse. This is coming from somebody who has been battling infections for 3 months straight (mine were from taking antibiotics). Not getting it fixed fast will and can mess with your bacteria down there, ultimately resulting in recurring yeast infections, possible bacterial vaginosis or worse.

When you go, take your boyfriend with you because he needs to be tested too, in his mouth and penis. Good luck. Watch out for signs if this happens again.

PS: You both should also be tested for STD's. Just in case, to throw those off the list.

  4. QUESTION:
Can I get rid of a chronic recurring yeast infection if I take medicines that lower my immune system. how?
I take medicines for rheumatoid arthritis that greatly lower my immune system. I can not get rid of a yeast infection. When I went to the dr, probably over a year ago now, he said I had a yeast infection, gave me meds, but they didn't work. I've since taken monistat a few times over the past year. Yesterday I bought an at home yeast infection testing kit by Vagisil and it indicates yeast infection. I am taking monistat yet again, and I have little hope. I am so fed up. I'd like to hear things that have personally helped you. I don't want information that is out there unless you've personally tried it and it worked! Help meeeee!!

    • ANSWER:
I also suffer from a reoccurring yeast infection so I can completely sympathise. The below are things which I find to help as long term solutions as although medications get rid of it initially, within two weeks it comes back fighting.

Live yoghurt- contains bacteria which kills the yeast. Dip a tampon in some and insert for a few hours and smear around the outside. I find this to work very well and is one of the oldest home remedies about.
Studies have also shown that when yeast infections are present in the vagina they are ALWAYS present in the gut- leading to increased risk of reinfection so eat plenty as well.

Tea-tree essential oil- works well as is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, dilute with some water to create more volume and follow the method above. I usually use this for over night or if I do not have any yoghurt left.

The other thing to consider is your diet- yeast feeds directly off sugar so the more there is of it in your diet the more severe and likely attacks of thrush are, so cut down as much as possible.

Dairy is also known to aggravate thrush as are mushrooms (apart from shiitake for some reason!) Personally I love these foods so can not completely cut them out; however if I feel the beginnings of an attack or in the midst of one then I will cut them out until the problem is gone. It depends on how much you like these as to what your action is- I have found though that avoiding them during an attack makes it easier to get rid of so it stands to reason that in not eating them at all you are less likely to get an attack.

Good luck and I hope you have some success with the methods I have outlined. They work well for me and I have gone from almost constant thrush to having the occasional attack, which if I pick up on quickly can be averted or got rid of quickly.

  5. QUESTION:
It's not a yeast infection so what could it be?
This is kinda graphic... well I have tested for infection with a home testing kit that came back negative. I have no cottage cheese discharge and NO odor at all.

I have bad itching tho. It goes away after I take a shower then it comes back. I remember having this when I was pregnant.. it's like an irritation to vaginal discharge. If I put a tampon in it stops the itching. Last time the office gave me Nystatin ointment but I don't have insurance anymore.

    What could it be? Thanks.

At Home Vaginal Yeast Infection Cures

A vaginal yeast infection is an abnormal growth of yeast cells in the vagina. These infections are most common in women who are in their child bearing years, but they can happen at any age. What are the types of treatments for Candida Infections? Candida infections can be treated with antibiotics and anti -fungal creams like fluconazole and diflucan. There are also other topical treatments as well. Natural and home remedies can also be used to cure the infection.

You should limit your use of antibiotics because they can cause yeast infections, change your clothes immediately after exercising or any physical activity. It is also a good idea to eat healthily by eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. These simple tips can help keep you and others from getting yeast infections.

Garlic and yogurt can be applied either internally or externally. You can insert garlic into the vagina or crush it, soak in water and drink, you can also soak a tampon into yogurt and insert in the affected area. Washing the affected area with apple cider vinegar will alleviate the burning and itching. Using the Tea tree oil by rubbing into the affected area is another way the infection can be cured through home remedies.

Being rich in anti fungal propertie,s tea tree oil can be extremely beneficial. Just massage it daily on affected area. Adding few drops of tea tree oil to the bathing water everyday can also work wonders.

Maintain a regular personal hygiene regimen to get rid of yeast infections. Wash your vaginal area with warm soapy water at least once daily. Dry your vaginal area with a clean towel to prevent excess moisture build-up. Wipe from "front-to-back" to reduce the amount of fungus surrounding your vaginal area. Adjust your hygiene regimen to account for your daily activity level. For example, take an extra bath or shower if you participate in sweaty activities such as aerobics.

Another good way to prevent yeast infection is by getting a lot of vitamins and nutrients like vitamin C that can help build your immune system which will protect you from yeast infections. Your doctor can also help you with ways to keep yeast infections away, so never forget to ask your doctor, that is the number one thing. It is good to get information on yeast infections because you should always be prepared for what symptoms you might face when you have any type of yeast infection.

Sustain a suitable vaginal environment to get rid of yeast infections. Wear breathable cotton underwear whenever possible to promote proper air flow throughout the vaginal area. Refrain from wearing form-fitting clothing to further your efforts. Trapped air and moisture can contain harmful fungus.

Diet is also an important part, when suffering from yeast infections. You must avoid foods rich in sugar because the yeast tends to multiply and grow due to sugar. Your candida yeast infection diet must include foods like rice cakes, nuts and seeds, lentils, brown flour products, beans, onions, sprouts, unprocessed meat, soy milk and eggs. Eating cranberry can be most beneficial as it lowers the pH level of urine.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How can I cure my vaginal yeast infection in a natural way at home?
I've been suffering from yeast infections for years now and they have now become chronic. The drugs don't help me anymore. The internet is full of different kinds of advice for natural cures, I have already tried some of them with no success. I was wondering are there really effective natural methods for yeast infections?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, there are a lot of natural remedies, but it is not important which one do you take or apply, but when and how much of them you apply. Right timing and dosage are the key to success. There is not one natural treatment that will solve your problem. You always have to combine several treatments, the point is to kill the infection from inside, not outside.
Why don't you check some simple methods that have already helped many yeast infection sufferers?

  2. QUESTION:
how to cure yeast infections or vaginal odor at home?

    • ANSWER:
Use over-the-counter treatments like vaginal suppositories/creams, you can clear it up in a few days. (A doctor can order a prescription pill to take also.)There are a couple of different kinds; if one ingredient doesn't work, try a different one. Also over-the-counter cortisone cream will relieve the itch. Stay clear of sweets, white "carbs" like bread and pasta, eat yogurt with acidophalus cultures included (kills yeast) or take the over-the-counter acidophalus capsules. Wear natural-fiber, loose fitting clothing and cotton panties/bras..this is VERY IMPORTANT. You want to keep the areas as dry as possible. You can apply cornstarch to soothe and dry the areas also. Don't use harsh soaps; try a bath in tipid water with 1/2 cup of oatmeal in a wash cloth tied with a rubberband. It's a great gentle cleanser and won't irritate your delicate skin. If you have an intimate partner, they will want to be treated also as you can pass this back and forth. Douching is not recommended while you're using your yeast medications vaginally. In fact, too much douching can cause more irritation and then with only water or water with a tablespoon of white vinigar. Hope this helps cause I know you must be miserable. God bless.

I want to know if there are any at home remedies or cures for it before I decide to goto the doctor even though I know that's whats best. I also would like to know how I can tell if I've passed the infection to my boyfriend. What are the signs and symptoms?

From your symptoms it sounds like it could be a bacterial infection - not a yeast infection. You really need to go and find out what kind of infection you have - the treatments are very different. Plus I do not think you want if to affect the baby when it is born - one of the causes of Thrush in newborns I believe.

Cheekbones, narrowness of jaws, the position of teeth and the formation of the hard palate make the taking of accurate x-ray pictures a challenge.

For these reasons x-ray pictures of teeth and jaws quite often fail to disclose the presence of infection or what kind of treatment might be required, contrary to generally accepted views of most dentists and patients.

Cracks in teeth are almost never visible on x-ray pictures.

The extent of bone loss around a tooth, though felt to indicate the severity of its infection, does not do so. Doctors Basker and Stern, in separate studies, reported that 85 to 100 percent of dental granulomas and redicular cysts do not contain bacteria. This does not mean the tooth itself is not infected.

When the dentist removes or treats a tooth but the patients continues to have a toothache, it may seem the wrong tooth was removed. The pictures in this chapter show how a second tooth is often involved.

Because lateral canals can contain infection, dentists have been taught to advise root filled teeth be x-rayed each year or two.

None of this implies the use of x-ray pictures is to no avail. Quite the contrary, good x-ray pictures often disclose disease conditions which should receive immediate attention if the patient's health is not to be jeopardized.

Both pointed out that the visual areas of abnormalities on x-ray pictures are not necessarily areas of infection harboring bacteria. Dr. Stern stated that, for the most part, such visible areas are lisions that have been identified as radicular cysts and granulomas.

The granulomas are reactive lesions caused by bacterial destruction originating from an infeced root canal that opens into that area. Experiments indicate the granuloma is a response of cells to the bacteria in the root canal, but, at the same time, bacteria cultures taken from the areas of lost bone at the root end of the tooth have proven negative 85 to 100 percent of the time.

These studies are yet another substantiation of discoveries made by Dr. Price in this regard some 45 years previous to the publication of the Baskar and Stern articles.

These are numerous other types of pathologic conditions which challenge the diagnostic ability of dentists. Some of these conditions are misinterpreted as tooth infections, but as descriptions of them would require complicated explanations that are not germane to the purposes of this book, I mention them only to further indicate the number of difficulties inherent in the use of dental x-ray pictures in the interpretation of dental pathology.

Greek Yogurt To Cure Yeast Infection

One of the worse disruptions any person can have in their life is a yeast infection. A yeast infection home remedy is the first thing a lot of people look for when they discover they're suffering from this problem. Visiting their doctor isn't something they want to do because they feel humiliated and want to cure themselves at home.

Believe it or not, garlic has been one of the oldest and most effective remedies for treating Candida. It has potent antibacterial properties capable of eliminating the fungi responsible for the infection. For those of you who can put up with the smell of garlic this is one of the simplest remedies.

Apple Cider Vinegar: The beauty of vinegar is its antifungal and antibacterial properties. Now to use vinegar as part of your vaginal yeast infection cures you need to pour one cup of vinegar into a warm bath.

Eat low carbohydrate foods because they don't stress the digestive system. Also you may consider avoiding molds and sugar from your diet because they keep feeding the yeast infection. Some healthy bacteria you can get into your system are yogurt, and that will help fight the bacterial infection. Yogurt contains probiotics, which help balance the amount of good bacteria in the body. Eat plenty of yogurt with probiotics twice daily when you have an active yeast infection. Also, you can use plain (UNsweetened, unflavored) yogurt vaginally. You can either apply it manually or use a clean tampon dipped into the yogurt, and insert the tampon, leaving it in place for two hours. Repeat this twice a day.

For decades black walnut has been one of the most favorable herbal yeast infection cures because of its ability to oxygenate the blood. This helps the body eliminate toxins and fat while keeping your sugar levels in balance. Black walnut, also an anti-fungal remedy, can be used to treat vaginitis and thrushes as well.

The problem some people have with using this remedy is that they can't deal with the garlic taste. However, if you can tolerate the taste the remedy is very simple to implement. Go in your kitchen and grab one raw garlic clove and eat it. Make sure you take off the paper-like cover before you consume it. Depending on how bad of an infection you're dealing with and how fast you want to eliminate the yeast fungus you can chew and swallow one or more everyday.
